McKissick Canyon Day hike. Hike up the grade of this canyon leading to the top of Dogskin Mountain in Winnemucca Valley. Views 2,300' above the Winnemucca Ranch property where new suburban development is threatened. Seven miles round-trip and 2,100' elevation gain. Learn about potential threats to wilderness areas. GB Group general meeting. Bartley Ranch and its Barns. Jack Hursh has been working for years to preserve historical ranch buildings from around the Truckee Meadows and through his organization, Truckee Meadows Remembered (TMR), has successfully relocated several of these buildings to Bartley Ranch Park. Our Sierra Club group has been meeting at Bartley Ranch for several years and now we have the opportunity to learn more about this special place and its historical buildings. Jack, an award winning photographer, will present a slide show of his photographs along with the fascinating history of the buildings that command his special affection. Aerial Tram route between the Rock Point Mill in Dayton and the Comstock. Day hike mostly off trail through brush tracing the route of the former aerial tram which transported ore from the Comstock to the Rock Point Mill at Dayton. Possibly two hikes will be offered: one slower paced of about five miles and 800 feet of elevation gain for the day: the other faster and about seven miles with over 1200 feet of gain. Ridgeline West of Relay Peak. We'll hike the Tahoe Rim Trail right on over the top of Relay Peak to the south We'll traverse down on TRT until we approach the "saddle" way out on the quite rocky ridgeline. We'll then go OFF-trail as we ascend toward the big rock "knob" for lunchtime further west. Mostly jeep road first part of hike. Total ascent 1800 ft. Roundtrip 12 mi. DOK. Historic Virginia City flume system on McClellan Peak near Carson City. Day hike. The hike will be along a portion of the route of the circa 1870 wooden box flume which brought water from the Carson Range to Virginia City. About 10 miles with less than 800 feet of gain. Earthquake Faults, Nevada Tour. We'll visit the earthquake faults associated with the magnitude = 7 1954 earthquakes near Fairview Peak, Nevada. Learn how earthquakes and faults have shaped the Nevada landscape. Possible climb of Fairview Peak (8300'). DL. Leader: David von Seggern (303-8461). Moderate.

Post-Turkey Day Walk-Off. Come on out and get some exercise in a scenic area somewhere within twenty miles of the Reno area. The outing will be about 6-8 miles in length and have around 1,200 foot of elevation gain. A great way to learn about places to go in our area and the flora or fauna surrounding us.
